| Coughs are one of the most frequent symptoms of a cold or virus in a child and can be managed by OTC medications and/or consultation with your primary care doctor. However, consult a doctor if your child has trouble breathing, has a blue color to the lips, face, or tongue, has a high fever, is an infant who has been coughing for more than a few hours, makes a "whooping" sound when she breathes, is coughing up blood, has stridor when inhaling, has wheezing when exhaling, or is listless. | |||
