Melissa Burns, MD
Melissa Burns, MD: Melissa attended Cornell University where she majored in Genetics and Developmental Biology. She continued her education at New York Medical College. Her outstanding academic performance was highlighted by her election to Alpha Omega Alpha in her junior year. She also received a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowship and spent one year in Dr. Todd Golub’s laboratory at the Broad Institute. Melissa came to Boston to join the Boston Combined Residency in Pediatrics in 2009. Career Interests: Melissa is interested in a physician-scientist career in the area of oncology. |
Julia Chu, MD
Julia Chu, MD: Julia received her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Biology from Stanford University in 2003. She continued MD/MPH studies at Northwestern University. Julia completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland. She demonstrated exceptional leadership skills as a senior resident and accepted the position of Chief Resident during the 2011-2012 year. During her training, Julia has worked in Bolivia, Nicaragua and among the Latino community in Chicago. Career Interests: Julia is interested in international medicine. |

Natasha Frederick, MD
Natasha Fredrick, MD: Natasha graduated cum laude from Colgate University in 2002 where she majored in Biology. She then spent two years as a 7th and 8th grade science teacher with Teach for America in Harlem (while earning an M.Ed. from Pace University). Natasha subsequently enrolled in medical school and attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine. While still in medical school, Natasha received an MPH with a concentration in family and community health from the Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her internship and residency at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island. Career Interests: Natasha is interested in palliative care research and adolescent health. |
Loretta Li, MD
Loretta Li, MD: Loretta graduated cum laude from Yale University (where she attended on a National Merit scholarship) with a degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and then matriculated at Harvard Medical School. She was the recipient of a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Training Fellowship and devoted a year between her third and fourth year to cancer genomics research in the laboratory of Dr. Kimberly Stegmaier at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). Her work on these and other projects led to three co-authored publications. She continued her training in Boston as a resident in the Boston Combined Residency in Pediatrics. Career Interests: Loretta is interested in a physician-scientist career focusing on Leukemia and AML genetics and targeted therapies. |

Jonathan Marron, MD
Jonathan Marron, MD: Jonathan received his undergraduate degree from Stanford with a focus on the Ethics of Science, Technology and Medicine. He continued at Stanford for his internship and residency where he elected to participate in the Stanford Advocacy Track within the Stanford Pediatric Residency Program. Career Interests: Jonathan is interested in community engagement and child health policy and his residency track provided him with an opportunity to engage in a project to promote child health and reduce child health disparities. |
Gayle Pouliot, MD/PhD
Gayle Pouliot, MD/PhD: Gayle was co-valedictorian of her college class at Colby, majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. She received her MD/PhD degrees from The University of Massachusetts Medical School. Her graduate work on the role of BRCA1 in breast cancer cells earned her a Department of Defense Predoctoral award, as well as several first-authored publications in the Journal of Cell Biology and Journal of Cellular Biochemistry. Gayle came to Boston to join the Boston Combined Residency in Pediatrics 2009. Career Interests: Gayle is interested in molecular oncogenesis. |
