Research Overview

Betsy Kammerer's research focuses in two areas. She has a long term research and clinical interest in neuropsychological and psychosocial outcomes in children with hearing loss. Her current projects are on neuropsychological assessment, deaf services in developing countries, patient and child satisfaction and quality of life post cochlear implantation, family focused web based supports, and children who are deaf and hard of hearing from intercountry adoptions.

Dr. Kammerer also studies long tern neuropsychological and psychosocial outcomes in children perinatally infected with HIV, including adherence, disclosure, behavioral issues, and  memory/executive functioning. She is also involved in international studies of children with HIV or affected by HIV, with a current grant in Botswana on potential impact of ARVs on outcomes.
