Research Overview

Dr. Jennings has a special research interest in fetal surgery and the application of minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques of fetal therapy. Dr. Jennings is also developing minimally invasive therapies for complex twin placental anomalies including twin-twin transfusion syndrome, the TRAP sequence, and umbilical cord entanglement. Dr. Jennings has a special expertise in the treatment of fetal thoracic masses including cystic adenomatoid malformations and pulmonary sequestrations, fetal tumors including sacroccocygeal teratomas, diaphragmatic hernias, hydrocephalus, myelomeningoceles, cystic hygromas (lymphatic malformations), tracheal and laryngeal atresia, and urinary tract obstruction causing hydronephrosis.

Dr. Jennings is Director of the Esophageal Institute. He has special expertise in treatment of complex esophageal disorders including esophageal atresia, lung gap esophageal atresia, TEF/TE and complications of esophageal atresia treatment. He works closely with Dr. John Foker using the latter's technique for inducing growth of the esophagus with traction. Dr. Foker is senior consultant of the Center for Advanced Reconstruction of the Esophagus (CARE).

About Russell Jennings
