Epilepsy Program
Your appointment
We consider you and your child integral parts of the care team and not simply recipients of care. No one knows your child better than you: In particular, we will rely on your observations of your child’s seizure activity, and our medical team will work with you to find the right care plan for her.
Clinic visits
During your first visit in the Epilepsy Program at Boston Children’s Hospital, you and your child will meet with a neurologist. He will review your child’s medical history and perform a specialized physical exam. He may refer your child for an EEG in our laboratories (see below) or for an imaging test (CT, MRI, or PET).
Diagnostic testing in our laboratories
Our neurophysiology laboratories perform about 5,000 diagnostic tests each year. Our technologists specialize in working with children: Your child will be tested by someone who is dedicated to providing excellent, compassionate care. You can stay with your child throughout testing.
You and your child probably have a lot of questions about what to expect. Visit our Resources tab for information about these tests, including a slideshow of a patient undergoing a test.
