Division of Developmental Medicine

We are in the process of establishing a Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Boston Children’s.  This is a multi-disciplinary effort between Neurology, Division of Developmental Medicine, Psychiatry, Speech and Language, and Genetics.  As part of this effort we have started holding educational talks to disseminate some of the expertise from our diverse faculty.

The inaugural Parent Forum was held 10/10/12 and featured Howard Shane PhD, Director of the Center for Communication Enhancement and the founder of the Autism Language Program here at Children’s.

Dr. Shane's talk was entitled "Aligning the Characteristics of Autism with the Features of Mobile Devices" and is available to view here.

On Wednesday, December 5th, Nancy Sullivan, PhD and Kimberly Dunn, RN/PNP (Division of Developmental Medicine) presented  "Treatment of Toileting and Feeding Challenges for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders." The recording is available here.

On Wednesday, February 27th, Eugene D'Angelo, PhD (Division of Psychiatry), Kerim Munir, MD and Katherine Driscoll, PhD (Division of Developmental Medicine) presented “Anxiety In Children and Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders: Therapeutic & Psychopharmacological Interventions.” The recording is available here

The next parent forum event is titled “Sleep Disorders and Epilepsy in Children with ASD” and will be presented by Dr. Sarah Spence (Department of Neurology) and Dr. Ronald Becker (Division of Developmental Medicine). Click here for more details

All Forum events are held from 6 - 8pm in the Folkman Auditorium (Enders Building), next to Boston Children's Hospital. Free parking is available at the main parking lot across from Boston Children’s Hospital. You will receive a parking voucher at the event.
