Application Process and Information

• Eligibility
  - Applicants must be enrolled in a medical/dental school, or a college or university.
  - Priority is given to medical/dental school students; however, a small number of undergraduate students may be accepted each year.
  - Students who have already participated in the Program are not eligible.
  - U.S. citizens may be eligible for NIH funding.

• How to Apply
  - Applications will be accepted starting February 1, 2013 through February 28, 2013. Please do not submit applications before February 1, 2013. Applications submitted early will not be considered.
  - Complete an Application Form.
  - Return the completed Application Form and a copy of your Curriculum Vitae (CV) to the Program Coordinator. (Please be sure to save the Form to your computer before starting. When completed, attach the file to an email and send it to the address indicated on the Form.)
  - Letters of recommendation and transcripts are NOT required.

You are urged to apply early within the application period as only the first 75 medical student applications and the first 25 undergraduate student applications will be considered.

• Funding
  - The Program provides stipends for students, who are expected to work a minimum of eight weeks, 30-40 hours per week.
  - Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation and housing.
  - Students are encouraged to apply independently for funding from other sources.

• International Applicants
  - If accepted, international applicants are responsible for obtaining the appropriate visa. International applicants may be eligible to receive a stipend if their visa allows.

Selection Process

• The first 75 medical school students and the first 25 undergraduate student applications will be considered for acceptance.
• Students are selected by the Directors based on an assessment of each student's application, research interests, and mentor availability.
• Every effort is made to place students with the mentor of their choice.
