Intestine and Multivisceral Transplant Program

Support for the whole family

Support for the whole family

Supporting your child through transplant can be frustrating, tiring, surprising and even joyous at times. But it's almost never easy. For that reason, we believe strongly in “support for the supporters.” We encourage you to take advantage of the services provided here at Boston Children's and by regional and national support groups.

It's important for your child to maintain as full an academic and social life as possible throughout the transplant process. We encourage visitors during long hospital stays and offer a transplant-specific Back to School Program to help your child, his peers and teachers make a smooth transition back to life in the classroom. Ask your Coordinator or Child Life Specialist for more information.

Center for Families

The Center for Families helps every family find the information and resources they need to understand their child’s medical condition and take part in their care.

Chaplaincy

Chaplains at Boston Children’s represent a variety of faiths, including Islam, Judaism, Protestantism and Roman Catholicism. They are available 24 hours a day to offer spiritual and emotional support to your child and family. Sensitive consideration is given to your family’s religious tradition and primary language.
