Speech-Language Pathology Program
Who we are
The Speech-Language Pathology Program at Boston Children's Hospital treats children and adolescents with a variety of communicative disorders, including children who have difficulties with language, articulation, voice, resonance and swallowing.
Our expertise
Speech-language pathology services are provided for both inpatients and outpatients. Four highly specialized programs are offered through the Speech-Language Pathology Program. These are:
- Swallowing Disorders Program
- Preschool Language Program
- Language and Auditory Processing Program (LAPP)
- Pediatric Voice and Resonance Program
Cerebral Palsy Research
Our Speech-Language Pathology Program is exploring better ways to recognize and treat many forms of childhood speech and language disorders. We're currently researching pediatric voice disorders and aspiration as the result of aging in cerebral palsy.
Voice Therapy
Children's offers a unique voice therapy program. Children enrolled in voice therapy are generally seen on a weekly basis for a period of approximately 6-8 weeks. In addition to direct work with the child and speech-language pathologist, families are taught how to support children's voice improvement at home.
