Reach Out and Read & Reach UP and Read

Reach Out and Read is a program offered through our Pediatrics Department which promotes early literacy in children through five years of age.

Eligibility:

  • Any child that is:
  • A patient at Martha Eliot Health Center
  • Between the ages of 6 months and 5 years
  • Attending a physical examination

Goals/Services:

  • Children are provided with a developmentally appropriate book at their well child visits.
  • Parents/Guardians are educated during each visit about the important of family reading time
  • Provides children with access to attain early literacy skills

Reach UP and Read

Reach UP and Read is a program offered through our Pediatrics Department which promotes school age literacy for children 5 to 12 years old.

Elgibility:

  • Any child that is:
  • A patient at Martha Eliot Health Center
  • Between the ages of 5 years and 12 years
  • Attending a physical examination

Goals/Services:

  • To provide children with age appropriate and engaging books during their medical visits within the Pediatric Department
  • To promote the enjoyment of reading and accomplishments for a child’s literacy level
  • To educate parents and guardians about the importance of reading in the development of academic skills and school success
