Young Parents Program (YPP)

Frequently asked questions
What is the Young Parents Program (YPP)?
YPP is the primary care center where mom, dad and baby can all receive their medical care in one doctor's office.
In addition to being your child's doctor, we can also assist you finding resources for school, jobs, housing, money and other things your family needs.
We also try to make it a supportive place for your family where you can talk about the challenges and joys of being a young parent.
Do I have to pay anything if I enroll in YPP?
No, all medical visits are covered by insurance. The majority of YPP patients have Medicaid (MassHealth).
How do I qualify to enroll in YPP?
If you are a parent, 18 years old or younger, you qualify for YPP. If you want to become a YPP patient, you simply have to transfer your child's and your care to YPP. We do not have any restrictions on your income or where you live.
How old are parents in YPP?
Our parents are in their teens and early 20s.
A new parent coming into YPP must be 18 years old or younger. We then continue to provide care for mom, dad and baby until the baby is at least 3 years old.
Sometimes, depending on life circumstances, young families stay in YPP for a little longer after their child turns 3 years old.
How old are children in YPP?
Our children's ages range from newborns to about 5 years old.
Is YPP for both mothers and fathers?

We invite single mothers and fathers to join, as well as young couples with a child.

Yes, as long as you are 18 years old or younger when you enter YPP.
