Our innovative approach

Attempts to continuously refine, innovate and improve patient care and outcomes play a critical role in our care of patients with congenital heart disease. Our efforts not only involve ongoing study of the agents and methods we use to provide sedation, anesthesia and pain relief; they also extend into designing and evaluating new monitoring devices, basic and applied research about organ injury and protection, reducing blood loss, and effects on both perioperative and long-term outcomes. The involvement, commitment and expertise of our cardiac anesthesia team continues to be critical to the evolution and success of many innovations and improvements in cardiac catheterization and surgical procedures at Boston Children's Hospital.
