MEDIA ADVISORY: Martha Eliot Community Health Fair

(Jamaica Plain, Mass.) -- Martha Eliot Health Center, Children's Hospital Boston's community health center in Jamaica Plain, will be holding its annual community health fair on Saturday, September 8 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
All members of the surrounding communities are invited to come and participate in a wide variety of health screenings and fun activities for the entire family. This year's health fair will promote physical activity, sports, healthy eating, education and youth empowerment. There will be free preventative and chronic disease screenings for attendees and staff will offer assistance in obtaining health coverage including Medicaid, Medicare and Commonwealth Care.
The event will feature a speakers program addressing the public health issues affecting the city. Participating organizations include Blue Cross Blue Shield, Boston Public Health Commission, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Hyde Square Task Force, Jamaica Plain Head Start, Latin American Health Institute, Neighborhood Health Plan and many more.

Martha Eliot Health Center is Children's Hospital Boston's community health center in Jamaica Plain. Established in 1966, it embodies more than 30 years of the hospital's commitment to the children of Boston. MEHC provides comprehensive pediatric, adolescent, adult and OB/GYN medical services including: adult, adolescent and pediatric primary care, diabetes, pre-diabetes weight control clinic for youth, domestic violence, HIV, nutrition services, WIC nutrition services, mental health, OB/GYN, optometry, phlebotomy, substance abuse.
