For Patients and Families

A message from James Mandell, MD,
Chief Executive Officer, Boston Children's Hospital

Dear patients and families,

As part of our commitment to improve the health of children and families in our community, and to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our employees, Boston Children's Hospital is a 100 percent smoke-free campus. Employees, patients and families, students, volunteers, contractors and visitors are asked to refrain from using tobacco products on all property owned or operated by Children's. In this effort, we're joining our neighboring institutions: Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are all now smoke-free.

I understand that our no-smoking policy may be difficult for some patient families, especially those who have been allowed to smoke here for many years. We ask that you please refrain from smoking on campus for your own health, the health of our colleagues and, of course, for the sake of the children who deserve a healthful environment for their care.

Sincerely,
