
Lyle Micheli and colleagues in the Division of Sports Medicine conduct research into the mechanisms of sports injuries, the techniques of rehabilitation and treatment, and the physiology of exercise and conditioning. Ongoing research activities include the study of knee injuries, running injuries, injuries to pre-adolescent children, and the psychological impact of sports and sports injuries. The division also investigates the prevention and treatment of injuries to dancers.
Lyle Micheli received his MD degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed a surgical internship and residency at University Hospital of Cleveland, a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital, and was awarded the Berg-Sloat Traveling Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery of the Orthopaedic Research Society.
Dr. Micheli is Past President of the American College of Sports Medicine. He is currently Vice President of the International Federation of Sports Medicine.
