Bone tumors

The Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors Program uses the latest diagnostic and treatment approaches to treat tumors in children and teens. When a patient’s tumor is malignant (cancerous), the orthopedic surgeons and oncologists in the Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center work together on their care.

Cerebral palsy and neuromuscular disorders

The Cerebral Palsy and Spasticity Center is a diagnostic and treatment center for children with cerebral palsy (CP). We treat the full spectrum of CP, from children with limited effects of the disorder to those with multiple complex issues.

The Spina Bifida and Congenital Spinal Anomalies Center includes experts from over a dozen specialties who work together to develop one personalized and coordinated care plan for each patient and their family, which often continues through young adulthood.

Growth disorders

The Skeletal Growth Disorders Program collaborates with specialists across the hospital to coordinate care for children with rare and complex growth disorders such as skeletal dysplasia.

Hands, arms, and shoulders

The Hand and Orthopedic Upper Extremity Program treats injuries of the hand, wrist, arm, elbow, and shoulder. Our patients range from infants to young adults who have a wide range of conditions, some that were present at birth and others related to trauma or sports injury.

The Brachial Plexus Program team offers expertise in orthopedic surgery and nerve repair to treat injuries of the brachial plexus, the network of nerves that run from the spinal cord to the shoulder, arm, and hand.

Hips

The Child and Young Adult Hip Preservation Program treats common and complex hip disorders such as hip dysplasia, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, and slipped capital femoral epiphysis. We are experts in diagnosing and treating hip pain so our patients can return to activities they enjoy.

Legs and feet

The Lower Extremity Program treats conditions that affect the feet, ankles, knees, and legs. We specialize in surgical and nonsurgical treatments for a range of lower limb conditions related to trauma, conditions present at birth, and developmental issues.

Limb-length discrepancies

The Limb-Lengthening and Reconstruction Program cares for children and young adults with arm or leg differences that are present at birth as well as those caused by trauma, bone infection, or developmental deformity.

Rehabilitation medicine

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Program works with patients affected by any illness or injury that affects their ability to walk, dress, or perform other daily functions. We collaborate with patients, families, and their care teams to ensure that each child’s rehabilitation plans are appropriate to their needs and goals.

Spine

The Spine Division is the largest and busiest pediatric spine center in the United States. Our spine specialists treat children and adolescents with conditions such as scoliosis, kyphosis, and lordosis, often with bracing and other non-invasive treatment methods.

The Complex Cervical Spine Program is one of the country’s first and largest multidisciplinary pediatric cervical spine clinics. Our team brings together specialists in spinal surgery, neurosurgery, radiology, and anesthesia to treat patients with rare and complex cervical spine conditions.

Sports medicine

The Sports Medicine Division provides comprehensive assessment, treatment, and follow-up care to children, adolescents, and young adults with sports-related injuries. Our team of sports medicine doctors, surgeons, physical therapists, athletic trainers, dietitians, mental skills specialists, sports psychologists, and many others has the expertise to address any aspect of sports performance, injury, and recovery.

Urgent care and trauma

The Orthopedic Urgent Care Clinic treats orthopedic injuries, such as sprains and fractures, that need prompt medical attention but don’t require emergency care. We see many patients on the same day they get hurt or within the same week, depending on the seriousness of their injury.

The Orthopedic Trauma Program works closely with Boston Children’s emergency department clinicians and staff to provide coordinated care for children with bone and joint  injuries caused by accidents or other forms of trauma.
