Edward Walsh | Professional History

I joined the staff at Boston Children’s Hospital in 1985 to establish a pediatric arrhythmia service, which has now grown to be one of the largest programs of its kind for clinical care, research, and training. I am principally involved in catheter ablation of arrhythmias, management of postoperative arrhythmias, and care of the adult with congenital heart disease.

Caregiver Profile

I’ve been privileged to work at this hospital for more than 30 years, which has given me the opportunity to follow some patients from infancy into adulthood. I believe continuity is a vital part of caring for complex cardiac patients, and is especially important in treatment of heart rhythm disorders, which is my area of specialization. Not only does continuity improve care for the patient, but it’s also the best way for clinicians to learn about the long-term effectiveness of our various therapies, leading to better strategies for treating the most difficult heart conditions.
