Juliet Ochura | Professional History

Juliet completed her undergraduate and graduate education at Kenyatta and Maseno Universities (Kenya). Prior to joining Boston Children's Hospital, she worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Kenya as a behavioral scientist conducting research on HIV and other infectious diseases, and developing HIV prevention behavioral interventions. Juliet is also a graduate of the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (MGHIHP).

She completed her post graduate clinical fellowship in Speech-Language Pathology at Boston Children’s Hospital and has continued her career here since. Her principal clinical responsibilities include diagnostic clinical feeding evaluations and treatment, and modified barium swallow studies. She is also a provider in the Growth and Nutrition Program, a multidisciplinary program that treats children from birth through school-age with feeding difficulties and suboptimal weight gain.

I chose to specialize in feeding and swallowing disorders because feeding is such an integral part of daily life, and an important way in which families socialize, connect, and share their traditional and cultural values across generations. I truly value diversity and I am passionate about patient advocacy, health equity, and bridging the gap in accessing care for all families regardless of their background.
