Kathleen James | Professional History
Kathy started her career as an RN working for 7 years in a variety of settings including; hospital med/surg, school health, home health, and community health. After she completed the Family Nurse Practitioner program at University of Pennsylvania, her first role as an NP was working at a homeless shelter on Cape Cod, then caring for the Brazilian immigrant community on the Cape. The next step in her career took her to Dana Hall School as the director of Health Services. A decade ago, she returned to the pediatric practice she grew up with: Pediatrics at Newton Wellesley. Over the past 3 years, she has enjoyed specializing in lactation support services as a International Board Certified Lactation Counselor. Throughout her career she worked for a variety of organizations providing temporary aid in countries including, Ghana, Dominica Republic and Honduras.
