The Child Protection Program (CPP) at Boston Children’s Hospital was established in 1970 by a team of professionals from various specialties throughout the hospital, who shared a commitment to improve the health and wellbeing of children by addressing the issues of family violence and child maltreatment. A core goal of the CPP is to ensure that children suspected of being maltreated receive appropriate medical care, psychosocial support and advocacy to address immediate medical and safety needs.
Our Child Protection Program team
The Boston Children’s CPP team made up of members from the Departments of General Pediatrics, Social Work, Nursing, and Psychiatry, with direct consultation from the Office of General Counsel. Our team includes a nurse liaison with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) who, through a range of activities, supports the seamless communication and case coordination on behalf of medically complex children in DCF custody who are admitted to the hospital.
