Current Environment:

Recognizing that transplantation in children is different than transplantation in adults, Boston Children’s clinicians and researchers have spent more than 50 years working to understand the differences and improve the care and therapies for children facing end-stage organ failure. In addition to providing exceptional care to those needing a transplant, we continue to look for ways to extend the life of organ transplants, reduce the side effects of immunosuppressive medications, and develop therapies, diagnostic advances, and genetic testing that could ultimately avoid the need for pediatric transplants.
