Benton Heyworth | Professional History
Dr. Benton Heyworth is the Associate Program Director of the Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship in the Division of Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is also an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Heyworth went to medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He then did two fellowships – one in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the other in Pediatric Orthopedics at Boston Children's Hospital.
Dr. Heyworth’s research involves participation in various multicenter study groups, including JUPITER (Justifying Patellar Instability Treatment by Early Results), ROCK (Research in Osteochondritis of the Knee), MEMO (Medial Epicondyle Multicenter Outcomes), CORTICES (Children’s Orthopedic Trauma and Infection Consortium for Evidence Based Study), PLUTO (Pediatric ACL: Understanding Treatment Options), SCORE (Sports Cohort Outcomes Registry), and FACTS (Function after Adolescent Clavicle Trauma & Surgery). Dr. Heyworth is on the Board of Directors for PRISM (Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine), and he is a member of POSNA (Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America) and AOSSM (American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine).
