Dario Fauza | Professional History
Dario Fauza received MD and PhD degrees from the University of Sao Paulo, in Brazil, where he also attended internship and residencies in general and pediatric surgery. He then moved to the United States in the 1990’s, where he completed further training in different clinical and postdoctoral fellowships, all at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is currently a staff member of Boston Children's Hospital’s Department of Surgery and Fetal Care and Surgery Center, as well as an Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
He has a prolific bibliography and is the recipient of multiple awards and honors in the United States and abroad. He has pioneered novel cell-based strategies for the treatment of congenital diseases, including the principles of fetal tissue engineering in parallel to gestation and of transamniotic stem cell therapy (TRASCET), among others. He has an extensive record of mentoring surgical trainees who went on to successful careers in Pediatric Surgery.
