Diego Porras | Professional History
Dr. Porras graduated from Universidad Francisco Marroquin Medical School in Guatemala. He then worked with Drs. Richard and Stella Van Praagh as a fellow in the cardiac registry at Boston Children’s Hospital for one year, before completing his residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. After residency, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cardiac development, also at Vanderbilt University. He then completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship and senior fellowship in interventional cardiology at Boston Children’s, where he also served as chief fellow. As chief of the Division of Invasive Cardiology, his primary interests include interventional procedures in patients of all ages with congenital heart disease. He has a special interest in the percutaneous treatment of congenital aortic stenosis, the use of stents to palliate different forms of repaired and unrepaired complex congenital heart disease, and the use of percutaneous techniques to aid in the management of patients with middle-aortic syndrome. In addition to his role in the cardiac catheterization lab, he also serves as ward and consult service attending for several weeks each year.
