Katherine Engstler | Professional History

Katie grew up in southern New Hampshire, and is a graduate of McGill University and George Washington University. She completed her post graduate clinical fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, and has continued her career here since. Katie leads the coordination of modified barium swallow studies across BCH satellite locations. She also conducts diagnostic clinical feeding evaluations and feeding therapy in the inpatient setting. Katie's primary clinical area of focus is in treating infants with congenital heart disease and she is involved in several groups dedicated to improving developmental care for these young patients. She is also a Certified Lactation Counselor and is dedicated to promoting safe breastfeeding in fragile infants. She also has training in completing FEES in collaboration with the inpatient Otolaryngology team. Katie is committed to providing a family-centered, individualistic approach to treating patients with dysphagia.
