Why do I need to go to a CAMP clinic?

Being on long-term anticoagulation medication requires close monitoring and follow-up. CAMP believes that regular assessment and education helps keep our patients safely and effectively anticoagulated and out of the hospital.

What if I don’t want to participate in a group setting?

We highly recommend the group education sessions because we have found them effective in keeping patients safe and healthy. But the sessions are, of course, optional.

How should I prepare for my appointment? Do I need to bring anything?

Just bring yourself and, if you wish, your family. And, if you are a home tester, please bring your INR monitor to clinic with you.

Your appointment

Before your appointment, please contact your or your child’s referring doctor and/or your insurance company to make sure you have gone through all the necessary steps to obtain a referral or preapproval for CAMP at Boston Children's.

Call your insurance company and obtain a separate referral for the CAMP doctor (as well as a referral to Boston Children's CAMP program, in general), unless the doctor who will be attending your CAMP appointment is already treating you or your child.

You can call CAMP at 857-218-4974 if you are not sure who the attending physician will be on the day of your visit.

Your insurance company will receive two bills, one from Boston Children's and one from the office of the particular doctor at your child's appointment. If you have billing questions, please contact the hospital's Outpatient Billing service at 617-355-7123.

Please be sure to bring your insurance card to your child’s appointment.
