Shawn Cameron | Professional History

Shawn Cameron joined the Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention in 2021. Prior to TMC, he worked as a certified athletic trainer and performance coach since 2018 at TB12 Sports Therapy Center in Foxboro, MA and TB12 Performance & Recovery Center in Boston, MA. At TB12, he empowered athletes to prevent injury, improve longevity, and achieve their peak performance by applying current best practice knowledge and skills in the area of athletic training while providing direction and education in the areas of health, wellness, hydration, and nutrition. Before TB12, Shawn served as the head men’s basketball athletic trainer at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA from 2011 to 2018. In that role he coordinated the immediate medical needs of the men's basketball program. His primary duties included the prevention, evaluation, and treatment, of sports-related injuries with an emphasis on design and implementation of therapeutic rehabilitation, performance enhancement training, and recovery. During his time at Temple, Shawn was a part of the men's basketball program's regular season conference titles in 2011-2012, (Atlantic 10) and 2015-2016, (American) along with post-season tournament appearances in the NCAAs in 2012, 2013, and 2016 and NIT in 2015 and 2018.

Shawn came to Philadelphia from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. At Ohio, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the baseball program from 2010 to 2011 and men's and women's cross country and track and field programs from 2009 to 2010. In addition, Shawn also assisted with the Bobcats' football program.

​He completed his undergraduate studies at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire. At Plymouth, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training and minor in sports physiology. His clinical rotations as an athletic training student included working with the 2008 NEFC Champion and NCAA tournament football program, men's ice hockey, men's lacrosse, softball, women's basketball, and field hockey programs. During his time at Plymouth State, he was the president of the Athletic Training Club and also volunteered as an aide in the medical tent for the Boston Athletic Association's 113th Annual Boston Marathon.

​A native of Boston, MA, Shawn is licensed to practice from the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals and is certified from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer. He holds a Performance Enhancement Specialization from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is CPR/AED certified from the American Heart Association. Shawn is an active member of the Athletic Trainers' of Massachusetts, Eastern Athletic Trainer's Association, and National Athletic Trainers' Association.
