Our mission

The mission of the Feihe Pediatric Brain Development Research Initiative at Boston Children’s Hospital, a Harvard Medical School Teaching Hospital is to improve the outlook for children everywhere by gaining a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that drive healthy brain development. The primary purposes of the initiative are to:

  1. Advance research to understand genetic, nutritional, and environmental impacts on children’s brain development and cognition, during both prenatal and postnatal stage
  2. Promote basic and clinical research to prevent and treat children’s neurodevelopment diseases
  3. Stimulate novel research direction and technology to boost children’s mental health, cognitive ability, and social adaptation
  4. Support a seminar series focusing on brain development research
  5. Support annual symposium on brain development research
Diagnosing diseases and disorders in children by recording electrical brain activity during sleep

Projects that include Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and Community Engagement initiatives will be prioritized such as inclusion of diverse populations and intentional reduction of linguistic, cultural, and economic barriers to research participation.
