Andrew Bonwit | Professional History

I entered medical school after spending time in military service (USMC) and traveling and working for several years. I had the good fortune to study at a wonderful medical school, to find my calling in medicine was pediatrics, and to train and practice for 14 years with great specialists in that field in Washington, DC, then in Maywood, Illinois for 15 years. My focus was pediatric infectious diseases, which fascinate me, but I now apply that to the practice of general pediatrics.

Medicine is a calling to serve and help people who come to me, by curing what ills can be cured and to alleviate discomfort and worry in ills that are not immediately curable. I strive to hear my patients' stories and concerns, to understand their needs, to provide sound advice and treatment based on best medical evidence. I hope to keep learning as long as I practice medicine.
