Researcher | Research Overview
Paola joined the Engle Lab in 2018 after graduating from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez with a BS in Biological Sciences. She is modeling CCDD candidate disease genes in motor neurons derived from mouse ES cells and zebrafish, as well as establishing zebrafish reporter lines for high-resolution imaging of the cranial nerves using expansion microscopy. Previously, Paola spent two summers in the lab as an undergraduate researcher through the HHMI EXROP and Capstone Programs. Her long-term career goal is to become a physician-scientist; her interests include pediatrics, ophthalmology, neurology, genetics, cell biology, neurodevelopment, molecular genetics, and imaging technologies.
