At Boston Children’s Hospital, we specialize in providing comprehensive care to gender non-conforming children, adolescents, and young adults.

Gender Multispecialty Service (GeMS)

Our Gender Multispecialty Service (GeMS) includes specialists from endocrinology, psychology and social work who help children and teens cope with the disconnect they may feel between the body in which they were born and the gender with which they identify. We provide comprehensive psychological assessment, mental health support and medical care to these patients and their families, as well as collaboration with schools, therapists in the community, pediatricians and other providers.

Behavioral Health, Endocrinology, Urology (BEING-U) Program

The Behavioral Health, Endocrinology, Urology (BE-U) program at Boston Children’s is dedicated to providing care and support to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with differences/disorders of sex development. Though patients may already have a primary endocrinologist or urologist, the BE-U program provides an opportunity to focus specifically on these sensitive issues through a multidisciplinary approach. Our team includes experts from a range of specialties, including endocrinology, urology, social work, and psychology. Together, we provide physical and psychological evaluation, ongoing care and additional referrals as needed.

Transgender Reproductive Health Program

Everyone has reproductive anatomy, and everyone can have reproductive health concerns. The Transgender Reproductive Health Service at Boston Children’s Hospital provides inclusive reproductive health care for people of all gender identities and anatomies.
