Matthew Siegel Boston Children's Franciscan Children's | Overview

BOSTON, MA — Nov. 7, 2023 — Boston Children’s Hospital and its new sister hospital, Franciscan Children’s, are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Matthew Siegel, MD, DFAACAP, to a dual leadership position as the Chief of Clinical Enterprise in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Boston Children's and the Chief Behavioral Health Officer at Franciscan Children's, effective Jan. 29, 2024. Franciscan Children’s recently became a member of the Boston Children’s corporate family.

Together with Stacy Drury, MD, PhD, Psychiatrist-in-Chief at Boston Children’s, and Joe Mitchell, MD, President of Franciscan Children’s, Dr. Siegel will be a key leader in strengthening the impact of the combined Boston Children’s and Franciscan Children’s system of care. He will play a central role in creating a more equitable and effective system of integrated and effective care, research, and education that will improve the lives of children and families in Massachusetts and New England.

Dr. Siegel currently serves as the Vice President of Medical Affairs at MaineHealth and is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine. His contributions at MaineHealth include the development of a comprehensive continuum of clinical care, research, and teaching designed to address the mental and behavioral health needs of young individuals with developmental disabilities. He founded and led the Autism and Developmental Disorders Inpatient Research Collaborative (ADDIRC) and established the first learning health network of inpatient units serving individuals with developmental disabilities.

An Amherst College and Stanford Medical School graduate, Dr. Siegel completed his training at Brown University, obtaining board certification in child psychiatry, psychiatry, and pediatrics. He is set to complete his MBA at Brandeis University in the coming year.
