Boston Children's drafts new protocol for anesthesia care after suture adjustment following strabismus surgery

These recommendations were developed collaboratively by members of the Anesthesia and Nursing departments at Boston Children's Hospital, and were reviewed with David Hunter, MD, PhD, Boston Children's ophthalmologist-in-chief.

The recommendations will help support the ophthalmologist’s practice of adjusting sutures postoperatively in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). In addition, they will help to ensure an optimal surgical experience and patient outcome while minimizing the impact on surgical volume and flow.
