Boston Children's Neuro-Ophthalmology Service uses both medical and surgical approaches to treat a wide range of eye conditions related to neurological disorders, including:
- abnormalities in optic nerve development (optic nerve coloboma, optic nerve hypoplasia)
- brain/intracranial tumors affecting the visual system
- diplopia (double vision)
- eye movement disorders/cranial nerve palsies
- idiopathic intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri)
- myasthenia gravis
- neurofibromatosis
- nystagmus
- optic nerve atrophy
- optic nerve edema/papilledema
- optic neuritis/multiple sclerosis
- pupillary abnormalities
- retinoblastoma
- other retinal disorders secondary to neurological issues
- complex strabismus secondary to neurological issues
- thyroid eye disease
- visual field defects
