Pap Test Evaluation Clinic | Overview

The Department of Gynecology at Boston Children's Hospital offers a Pap Test Evaluation Clinic to evaluate and manage abnormal Pap tests.

Patients are referred to our clinic from within Boston Children's and from other health care sites in the greater Boston area.


 

What is a Pap test?

A Pap test (sometimes called a Pap smear) is a way to examine cells collected from the cervix, or the "mouth" of the womb (located at the top of the vagina), for the presence of:

  • infection
  • inflammation
  • abnormal cells
  • cancer
