The Smith Lab has a pursued investigation and development of:
- Non-invasive biomarkers for the detection and follow-up of neurosurgical disease
- Novel therapeutic interventions for neurosurgical disease based on regulation of vascular stability
- Investigation of the molecular mechanisms regulating tumorigenesis and angiogenesis in the central nervous system.
Particular focus is centered on:
- Moyamoya disease
- Arteriovenous malformations
- Cavernous malformations
- Stroke/Cerebral Palsy
- Brain tumors (including DIPG, GBM, glioma, medulloblastoma, pilocytic astrocytoma and others)
