Traumatic Brain Injury Lab Research | Overview

The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Lab focuses on translational research utilizing cutting-edge approaches to target TBI through a variety of injury models in different species. The lab applies cellular and molecular approaches, and behavioral outcomes after injury. The lab's mission is to improve and accelerate translational research, with a patient-focused goal, in the TBI field.

Led by Primary Investigators, Rebekah Mannix, MD, MPH, William P. Meehan, MD, and Jianhua Qiu, MD, PhD, the lab’s goal is to illustrate the mechanisms of TBI-related neurodegeneration and find meaningful biomarkers for identifying, preventing, and treating short- and long-term effects of TBI. Our physician-scientists and team are actively collaborating with colleagues across the BCH research enterprise, as well as externally on numerous multicenter basic science and clinical research investigations.
