Bin Bao, PhD | Email Bin is an Instructor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and works in Dr. Scott Snapper's lab in the GI Division at Boston Children's Hospital. Bin is also a core scientist directing FACS core at the Harvard Digestive Diseases Center (HDDC). Bin received his PhD from the School of Life Science at Sun Yat-sen University. He has a strong interest in development, metabolism, microbiome, and mucosal immunology. He is currently investigating how gut microbial product modulates mucosal immune cells, aiming to find a new therapeutic method for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients. Working with Bin, the lab is exploring the roles of pH sensing in intestinal homeostasis and inflammation. Outside of lab, Bin likes reading and playing chess.

Matthew Crawford, MD | Email Research Assistant Matthew is a Research Assistant III in Dr. Wayne Lencer’s lab in the GI Division. He is originally from the North Shore of Massachusetts but spent time living in various countries growing up. He received his BS in biochemistry from Tufts University in 2019 and an MS in bioengineering in 2020. Matthew is the 3-D printing engineer for the Zhou Lab. His interest in 3-D printing for tissue culture materials brought him into the Zhou Lab, and he currently studies how to increase quality control and reproducibility of printed items while improving cell-structure interactions. Outside the lab, Matt is an avid enjoyer of nature, going camping, biking, and SCUBA diving whenever weather permits. |
