Rheumatology Research | Overview

As part of our mission to care for children with autoimmune conditions, the Rheumatology Program is dedicated to patient-centered research. Our goals are to better understand the underlying causes of autoimmune diseases and to identify novel approaches to clinical care.

Active studies focus on:

  • Pathogenesis and cellular mechanisms of inflammatory arthritis
  • Genetics of arthritis
  • Outcomes in pediatric systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Improving treatments for Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

We are an active research center in the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA), a collaborative research organization that studies pediatric rheumatologic conditions in North America.

We hope our patients will join us in these research endeavors to improve outcomes in pediatric rheumatology.
