Ongoing Studies | Overview

  • How does goal-directed behavior develop across childhood and adolescence?
  • How do different social environments impact brain development across childhood?
  • Why do some children develop Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and how can we more reliably diagnose ADHD in children?

Here at the Sheridan Lab in the Laboratories of Cognitive Neuroscience (LCN), we are working to shed light on such questions through a variety of ongoing studies that draw on behavioral measures, neuropsychological testing, brain imaging (MRI, fMRI), and electrophysiological recording (EEG).  Our overarching goal is to understand brain development while learning how to foster healthy outcomes in disadvantaged and psychiatrically at-risk children. We hope to provide knowledge that can translate into effective clinical and educational interventions.
