Programs & Services | Overview

The Outpatient Psychiatry Service offers diagnostic evaluations and specific treatment recommendations for a wide range of conditions that affect the mental, emotional, and social health of children and adolescents.

Our treatment plans draw from scientific research and clinical guidelines, and are based on compassionate, family centered care. Comprehensive treatment recommendations may include psychiatric medications, individual psychotherapy, family or group therapy, and parent guidance, as well as school supports, either in the community or at Boston Children's Hospital.

Specialty clinics and programs

In addition to our general clinical services, the Outpatient Psychiatry Service includes several specialty clinics/programs that treat specific disorders within the wider range of childhood conditions:

  • Developmental Neuropsychiatry provides diagnostic evaluation, treatment, and consultation for children and adolescents with psychosis, autism spectrum disorders, and other complex neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • Medical Coping provides diagnostic evaluation, treatment, and consultation for children and adolescents with medical conditions.
  • The Neuropsychology Program performs neuropsychological assessments for children with acute or chronic neurological or medical conditions.
