Recall Alert

Upon arrival to the Donor Center, new donors will be asked to complete a donor demographic card to ensure we have their basic information. Then they will be asked to complete a history questionnaire where they are asked about travel and medical history. Upon completion, a staff member will privately review the questionnaire with you, take your temperature, check your pulse and blood pressure, test hemoglobin, and ask a series of health related questions to make sure that you are in good health to donate on that particular day.

If you are deemed to be eligible to donate that day, a staff member will take you into the donor room where the blood donation process will take place. Upon completion of your donation process, donors are encouraged to relax for a few minutes. The donor center has a refreshment station where donors can choose from a variety of snacks and beverages to ensure that they are feeling well before departing.

Post donation, rehydrate by drinking plenty of fluids over the next 24 to 48 hours. Avoid strenuous physical activity and heavy lifting for about five hours following donation. Smile and feel great knowing that you will help out the patients here at Boston Children's Hospital!
