Collaboration for Community Health
Boston Children’s Hospital is building on our history of partnering with the community to make a significant impact on the health of children and families. Funds are distributed as part of an agreement with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Determination of Need/Community Health Initiative program.
A total of $53.4 million was available to be distributed over seven to 10 years.
These funds — Boston Children’s Collaboration for Community Health — are supporting community organizations in addition to our ongoing commitments to programs and other partners.

2024 Funded Partner Convening
Shari Nethersole, MD, Vice President of Community Health and Engagement, gave opening remarks.
Alondra Bobadilla, Boston’s first Youth Poet Laureate (2020-22), wrote and performed an original poem. Boston is a House of Mercy was inspired by the Collaboration for Community Health.
Guests were seated at round tables to enhance networking.
Participants were asked to imagine the year 2030 and in an interactive activity shared thoughts about how their efforts have positively impacted the future and what has improved.
The creations were collected and assembled onto large butterfly outlines that were placed around the room.

Youth from South Street Youth Center interviewed funded partners about their organizations and projects for a podcast. Photographs by South Street Youth Center youth were also on display.
Leaders from academic institutions and a youth-serving community organization shared perspectives on building innovative and different pathways that allow for individuals to achieve success. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Shari Nethersole.
