Research & Innovation | Overview

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Boston Children’s Hospital is part of the world’s largest research enterprise at a pediatric center. Our research is driven by ongoing and relentless quest to improve patient care.

Basic research

Our basic research programs focus on the study of epithelial cell biology and mucosal immunology in infection, inflammation, host defense, and development of the gastrointestinal tract. To learn more, please visit our basic research page.

Clinical and translational research

Our clinical and translational research programs focus on intestinal and nutritional epidemiology, outcomes research and quality insurance, inflammatory bowel disease, the congenital diarrheas, celiac disease, hepatic disease, and motility and “functional” disorders of the GI tract.
