Pharmacy | PGY-2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency Program

The Boston Children’s Hospital PGY-2 program’s purpose is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY-1 pharmacy resident programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in advanced or specialized pediatric practice. Our program provides residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners through conceptualizing, integrating, and transforming accumulated experience designed to develop pharmacists with expertise in pediatric pharmacotherapy. Our residents are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification.

Our program is a 12-month post-graduate year two curriculum designed to offer an individualized training plan for each resident based on their interests, goals and past experiences. Our program goals are to:

• engage and prepare the resident for significant responsibilities in clinical, educational, and operational aspects of pharmacy practice
• provide a mechanism whereby the resident contributes to the development of pharmacy services within an institution
• develop the resident’s teaching abilities

Residents are required to complete program requirements aimed at developing a skilled and competent practitioner. Required elements of the program include providing pharmacy services, completing a major research project, patient education, and developing leadership and communication skills. Upon successful completion of the program, residents are awarded a program certificate.

• Yearly stipend: $66,500
• Benefits: The resident receives health insurance, sick leave, paid vacation, and travel reimbursement for ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA) Annual Meeting.

• Requirements: Pharm.D. required, PGY-1 residency required, application submitted via PhorCAS with letter of intent, curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation (clinical preceptors, Residency Program Director, employer), transcript), licensure in Massachusetts.
