Dr. Kasser attended Lehigh University to become a mechanical engineer, proceeded to Tufts Medical School, and on to his residency at Tufts New England Medical Center as well as his fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics at Alfred I duPont Institute. Since beginning practice at Boston Children’s Hospital in 1982, he has been active in the care of trauma patients and lower extremities congenital deformities.

He was editor of the AAOS Orthopedic Knowledge Update V and is on the editorial board of the Journal of pediatric Orthopedics. Dr. Kasser has edited or co-edited several orthopedic textbooks, including Lower Extremity Fractures in Children, A Practical Approach to Children’s Fractures and Rockwood & Wilkins’ Fractures in Children, authored a number of book chapters, and published more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles.

He served as president of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America as well as on a number of committees and boards of directors. He was on the board of directors of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, serving as President in 2012. He is now on the Board of Directors of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He also served on the Executive Committee of the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program.

He is a frequent invited lecturer both nationally and internationally.
