City and civic relations
Boston Children’s Hospital strives to be a good neighbor, community health partner, and civic leader in the communities where we have hospital and/or satellite facilities. We do so by partnering with city and town officials, local Boards of Health, school systems, and community-based organizations to promote the health and well-being of the children and families in those communities. This includes supporting municipal programs and policy initiatives that address the conditions in which families live, providing employment opportunities for our neighbors, and working with communities and community organizations to meet their needs.
In addition, as an anchor institution, Boston Children’s works to ensure that its workforce reflects the communities we serve, makes purchasing decisions in a way that is inclusive of local, minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses, and invests its resources in a way that promotes the health and well-being of both patients and the broader community.
Boston Children’s Hospital works with local officials, city planners, and local regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all local regulations. In addition, we recognize that we are part of a larger community and work hard to ensure we are good neighbors by keeping community residents informed of any major changes happening at our facilities and investing in local organizations that positively impact health outcomes in the communities we serve.
